Jiang Xueqin contends America's war with Iran is a deliberate imperial strategy to control global trade routes and blockade China, with a critical ceasefire set to expire on April 22.
"This war in Iran is actually part of a larger strategic vision that the United States has to maintain its empire," Jiang Xueqin said. He argued the conflict stems from the U.S. National Defense Strategy published in January 2026, which shifted from globalist ideals to prioritizing concrete American interests.
Jiang Xueqin claimed the strategy explicitly focuses on controlling strategic choke points to maintain empire. He said the U.S. aims to dominate vital trade routes like the Strait of Hormuz, the Strait of Malacca, and the Panama Canal to blockade China and force global dependence on American resources.
The United States has imposed a blockade on Iran and escalated the situation by boarding and taking over an Iranian ship returning from China. Secretary of War Peter Hex said threatening to attack commercial ships in international waters constitutes piracy and terrorism.
According to Jiang Xueqin, there is no significant political opposition to the war in Washington. "The Democrat is not opposing this war," he said. "They're doing as much as possible to support this war."
The U.S. is moving toward a wartime economy, with the Pentagon budget increasing from $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion. The government is holding talks with automakers to produce munitions and plans to automatically register Americans aged 18-26 for the draft starting December 2026.
Over 50 oil refineries worldwide have been set on fire in the past 45 days, including facilities in Russia, Myanmar, Australia, Romania, and India. The war has caused significant economic impacts, including price increases of 57% for sulfur, 52% for jet fuel, and rises in diesel, gasoline, and fertilizer costs.
Senator Rick Scott from Florida expressed a stark view of U.S. objectives regarding China. "Preventing all oil from reaching China and destroying their economy would be a wonderful outcome from my perspective," he said.
Jiang Xueqin characterized U.S. foreign policy as operating on an ultimatum model. "Obey us and there will be peace," he said. "Defy us and there will be war." He claimed America intends to position itself as the sole provider for the world's energy, resources, weapons, and financing.
Scott said, "If no oil ever goes to China again and their economy is destroyed, that would be a really wonderful day for me."
The professor predicted the war will not end soon and could last for years. He argued the U.S. will ultimately lose due to long-term issues like nationalism, corruption, and internal division. Negotiations for a peace treaty are currently underway in Islamabad during the two-week ceasefire.
